"Fun I love, but too much fun is of all things the most loathsome. Mirth is better than fun, and happiness is better than mirth." — William Blake

On Journey

I had my most recent game of Journey saved at the beginning of the snow level, since last time I played I’d gotten there with no partner and it was too late at night for me to keep going anyway. Tonight, rather than just continuing, I decided to wait on a rock near the entrance to see if anyone wandered by that wanted company.

To the White Robe who happened along: I apologize for getting arse-lost and wandering off the edge of the cliff back to the beginning of the level, despite my having played a number of times before. I was grateful and surprised when you came after me and willingly slogged through that distance all over again; that was pretty darn nice.

I forgive you for getting us spotted twice by the war machines (sob). Or maybe my camera was acting up and it was actually me, in which case, uh, disregard that. (The third time was my own stupid fault.)

Thank you for sticking close in the final snowstorm, and thank you for not disappearing when I got myself lost yet again on the final ascent, as I am wont to do.

Finally, thank you for observing my crappy attempts to write “Hello” in the sand at the summit, only to respond by drawing a heart. That absolutely made my night.

Happy travelling.
